Owing to the death of Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebire on January 23rd 2022, president Museveni has finally named Dr Micheal Atingi-Ego as the new Bank Of Uganda. Atingi has been Deputy Governor since 29th March 2020 and his contract was set to expire on 23rd April 2025. The Judicial Service Commission has this evening denied and distanced itself from reports that president Museveni had appointed the Deputy Chief Justice, Justices to the Court of Appeal and another to the Supreme Court. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has today expressed his dissatisfaction with the Supreme court over their landmark ruling which brought an end to the trial of civilians in the General Court Martial. The Electoral Commission has today, Monday, commenced the exercise for the general update of the National Voters Register in preparation for the 2025-2026 General Elections. The update exercise will be conducted from 20th January until 10th February 2025 at update stations as shall be publicized for each of the 10,717 parishes/wards throughout Uganda, starting from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm every day, including weekends.
