At least 20 civil servants have been dismissed from public service in Luwero District over abandonment of duty and drunkenness. ‎‎According to a report by Luwero District LC5 Chairperson Erastus Kibirango covering the period between November 2025 and February 2026, the District Service Commission confirmed 18 staff members in service, retired three officers on medical grounds, and redesignated five others. ‎‎The commission also appointed 67 employees on probation and promoted eight staff members. ‎‎The report further indicates that the commission handled 27 disciplinary cases, recommending the termination of 20 staff members and the retirement of two others in the public…

A team of six health workers at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital took eight hours to operate on Samuel Akamumpa, an 9-year-old boy who was forced to swallow four dozen needles and many pieces of broken pens in Mitooma district. The team comprised of an anesthetist, three pediatric surgeons, and two theater nurses to carry out the successful operation. Retired High Court judge Margaret Oguli Oumo has lost a case in which she sought to recover land she said belonged to her late husband, George Oumo. In a case dating back to 2009, Oguli and her son, Derick Imongit Oumo, claimed that George Oumo had purchased about 3.528 hectares of land in Bukedea County from James Ikorat in 1985.
