By Oweyegha-Afunaduula Former Vice-President of Uganda, Dr. Specioza Kazibwe said two things that still ring in my head. One was that Ugandans who do not embrace globalization will be left behind. It is beyond their understanding, although the fact is that the Uganda government was the first government in Africa to embrace globalization. Uganda as a country has been harmed by globalization far more than she has gained from it. With respect to the statement that the poor will never rule…
By Wilfred Arinda Nshekantebirwe It has been said—by a voice lost to time but forever etched in truth—”The state decays, but the dictator grows fat.” This haunting phrase, whispered through the ages and carried on the winds of forgotten history, captures the tragic fate of nations devoured by the insatiable greed of those who rule. His 32-year dictatorship was not just a political epoch; it was a grand theft, a slow, cruel plunder of a…

There is a growing tendency with preferences of leaders to address the citizens of different ethnic backgrounds in the leader’s mother tongue, either by making quotations or references and others bragging about ancient and extinct Empires like the Chwezi with the call for the need for them to be revived while suppressing those that should have been revived to remain dormant. Others try to mimic cultural Kingdoms that have not been in existence, while others try to propagate the enthronement of non-existent kingship while suppressing the one that has been in existence for over 500 years, like the Obugabe.
