Deposed former Speaker Annet Anita Among who is set to appear in court to face corruption related charges has finally found solace at parliament.
From a very powerful woman who even once equated the Holly Trinity to her political games That Museveni is God the Father, Muhoozi is God the Son and the Voters as God the Holly Spirit has found comfort after the NRM, the party she helped so much and even orchestrated the de-nomination of some candidates who had stood again her NRM peers by Electoral Commission has designated her to sit on Government Assurance.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) earlier designated former parliamentary Commissioner and Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake as the Chairperson of the Government Assurance Committee deputized by Soroti Woman MP Anna Adeke Ebaju and these two are now former Speaker Anita Among’s bosses in that committee and she’s expected to sit with them comfortably.
Francis Zaake and Anita Among have been sworn-enemies since 2022 when Anita Among presided over his removal [mob-justice] from the Parliamentary Commission after her [Anita] accusing Zaake of abusing her on X formerly Twitter. Zaake would later drag her and parliament to the constitution court and won that case with costs and an order to re-instate him but parliament appealed. Anita Among was the complainant and was the judge in that case.

When NUP wrote to Anita Among removing former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga as commissioner of parliament, Zaake was suggested to replace him but Anita Among still poured cold water on such arrangement vehemently telling off NUP that what they had suggested was an impossible dream.
As the clock ticks every day with no one aware of what might happen tomorrow, Anita Among was deposed from her seat of authority, placed under house arrest since 13th May this year, all her homes were subjected to security led search operations and several documents, gadgets, cash and six luxury vehicles in her parking including a Rolls Royce worthy UGX3.4billion were all towed to police headquarters until now.
After being ordered out of the speakership race and leaving the way clear for West Budama Central MP Jacob Oboth Oboth and Thomas Tayebwa as his deputy, many thought the Man from Rwakitura would console Anita Among atleast with a ministerial position but that didn’t happen, she’s instead being prepared for incarceration at Luzira prisons to battle corruption-related charges.
If by Choice or By Chance Anita Among makes her way to the gates of Luzira Prisons, she’ll join seven other parliamentary bosses including her blue-eyed boy Chris Obore the Director of Communications at parliament who are on remand having been arrested last week by the Inspector General of Government (IGG) for embezzling over Shs30billion parliamentary SACCO cash.
