Officials of West Nile Zonal Uganda Senior Secondary Schools Association have been left in total disappointment following the stepping out of Comboni Samaritan of Adjumani district in the upcoming national meet.
Comboni, who finished as runners in the West Nile Zonal meet for boys, reportedly pulled out at the last minute due to a lack of funds for feeding and participation fees, leaving only Mvara SS from Arua City and Moyo Star from Moyo district to represent the region in the national competition.
Francis Bithola, the West Nile region’s organizing secretary, confirmed this and stated that they did not anticipate Comboni’s action because they had been quiet until the last day.
“They told us very late, we didn’t know what was going on if only they told us in three-five days we would have made a replacement, now schools have closed for holidays making arrangement is hard.” Bithola stressed in a telephone interview
Meanwhile, in the girls’ category, West Nile is represented by Moyo Star from Moyo district, Francis Ayume from Koboko, and Maracha Domestic from Maracha district. This year national competition is being hosted in Ngora for Boys and Bukedi districts for girls from May 6-14, 2025. According to the fixture released on Saturday
