Museveni Dissolves Cabinet
It’s the 5th of May 2026, just 7 days to the inauguration of president Museveni’s 7th term, he’s extending his grip to power to 45 years having grabbed it in 1986 with promises and slamming of leaders who overstay in power as Uganda’s and Africa’s biggest problem.
The president yesterday chaired the final cabinet meeting for this term and dissolved his it which he named the Fishermen cabinet in 2021, He praised the cabinet for ushering Uganda into a middle income country but also decried the corruption which remains a big cancer without medicine in his government.
All eyes are on president Museveni now on whom he will name as Ministers in his next cabinet especially at a time when this term is seen as his transition term. His cabinet consists of 80 Ministers, these include 30 cabinet Ministers and 50 Ministers of state each with lead cars and security.

Thieves Break Into Bank Of Uganda
In other news, thieves yesterday early morning broke into Bank of Uganda and made off with seven laptops having very vital information. The central bank in a statement revealed it was coordinating with the security entities to investigate and establish how this happened to such a highly guarded government institution in the heart of Kampala.
It’s not the first robbery happening at the Central bank, In late 2024, in what was later termed as an inside job from the ministry of finance, planning and economic development with insiders in the Central bank, $17million (roughly Shs62billion was siphoned from the national coffers and paid to inexistent suppliers in different countries abroad.
The Central bank blamed the incident to hackers who allegedly accessed it’s systems, siphoned cash from the national coffers and diverted their loot to Japan and United Kingdom.

NRM Invites It’s Troops In Parliament To a Caucus Ahead Of Today’s Plenary
In a letter issued yesterday late in the evening, Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua invited all NRM members of parliament to a short notice very crucial meeting and also reminded the MPs of today’s very important plenary which parliament is set to pass the contentious Sovereignty bill 2026 which has been rejected largely across the country.
It’s a public secret that Members of parliament are meeting to be briefed about the Contentious bill which is returning to parliament today for it’s second reading, third reading and the legislators who are in their final days of their term will vote and appease the president who in a letter posted on his socials said himself initiated the bill.

Sovereignty Bill Returns To Parliament For It’s Final Management
After a weekend of chaos which saw several legislators exchange blows and accusations at a City Hotel over the Contentious Sovereignty bill, it returns to parliament after two weeks of interactions with different stake holders who have majorly rejected it including the Bank of Uganda governor who said the bill spells doom for Uganda’s economy.
The MPs sitting on the committees processing the bill; Legal and parliamentary affairs committee and that of Defense and Internal Affairs disagreed when the committee bosses thrown the views collected from the stake holders during engagements and instead adopted a revised version of the Attorney General who is equally a stake holder.
The Bill is returning parliament in another version not in it’s original form which the public has, it’s this revised version which is going to be read for the second reading, third reading and parliament will vote on it. The Committees will present their reports and in the end the bill will pass since the NRM has numerical strength in parliament and it’s their principal who initiated it.

It’s a complete show down today in parliament, we shall keep tabs on every development and bring it to you.
