Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament must be having processing another Visa to Vatican to meet the Pope for special prayers as trouble continue hovering above her head as parliament prepares for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th parliament.
Despite using all mafia style methods to lock out all her competitors in Bukedea from contesting for the Women MP position and orchestrating the denomination and buying of candidates from other parties to chest thumping how she compromised the opposition of the 11th parliament and willing to do even more in the 12th parliament, those who weld power are yet to be convinced by her powerful conduct for another term as Speaker.
The dust regarding her flashy lifestyle and orchestrating corruption at parliament had settled a bit until she bought a Shs3.7billion Rolls Royce delivered by flight at Entebbe Airport from London, even those who had rallied behind her had to rethink about parliament of Uganda under Anita Among for the next five years.
Hell broke loose on 12th May when Muhoozi’s Patriotic League of Uganda which is comprised of NRM supporters affiliated to the first son retracted their endorsement of Speaker Anita Among and her Deputy for re-election in the 12th parliament. Muhoozi guided that the PLU affiliated MPs should vote for the candidate who will be presented by President Museveni whose decisions in NRM are neither questioned or debated.
Following contentious meetings at State House and the country eagerly await for the white smoke from Plot 1, Muhoozi has already let the cat out of the bag and endorsed West Budama County South legislator also outgoing Defense Minister Jacob Oboth-Oboth for speakership. He also in a tweet said that his brother Thomas Tayebwa has no problem and might be retained as the deputy speaker.
Now to add more in the mix is the Inspector General of Government Aisha Nalule Batala who while the Uganda Media Centre today has revealed that her office received a petition regarding the declaration of wealth by the Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament and owing to the petition on her table, the IGG has commenced investigations into the wealth of Anita Among.
“I just want to confirm that we received the complaint. When we receive complaints, we have a procedure for processing. We received the complaint and we are processing it”-said Justice Naluzze
The next 10 days will be a defining moment, if Anita Among is retained or if she’s dropped by Museveni and decides to use money and influence to convince the legislators to vote for her and what will she do to those who have openly pointed fingers at her, it’s a story we are eagerly waiting.
