Former Speaker of Parliament also Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament Annet Anita Among has finally withdraw from the speakership race following a tightly heated meeting with President Museveni which sealed her fate and was asked to drop out of the race for her own good and for the good of the party.

Taking to her social media pages, Anita Among revealed that she has decided to drop out of the race for purposes of harmony and clarity with in her party NRM which she just joined from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) together with Former Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.

“After wide consultations and deep introspection, and to maintain harmony and clarity in my beloved party, the NRM i wish to categorically and unequivocally state that I will not be offering myself for the Speakership race of the 12th Parliament”-Anita Among wrote.

Among who was just forced out of the race by president Museveni following widespread accusations of abuse of office, corruption and money laundering is currently facing one of her toughest political moments after joint security teams mounted power search on her properties. They started with her Nakasero home and are currently searching her other residence in Kigo on Entebbe Road.

This now gives way to Jacob Oboth Oboth who was endorsed by the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Muhoozi Keinerugaba and later by the president to run for speakership of the 12th parliament against any other candidate who might present himself or herself.
