After being kept in Muhoozi’s basement for over 48 hours, he was dumped at Kira Division police where his supporters, friends and family thronged in big numbers to check on the seasoned lawyer, the former Lord of Kampala City Erias Lukwago has been arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court in Makindye and charged for misprision of treason.
From videos which went viral on Monday morning, heavily armed SFC commandos stormed Lukwago’s home in Wakaliga, jumped over the wall fence and broke into his bedroom where they picked him and bundled him a waiting Drone which delivered him to CDF Muhoozi’s basement who took photos of the former lord Mayor and kept posting them via his X formerly twitter account.
According to prosecution, Lukwago is accused of knowing about plans and meetings by Dr. Kiiza Besigye and Obed Lutale to overthrow Museveni’s four-decade government and decided to keep quiet instead of informing authorities. Lukwago vehemently denied these charges.
Despite presenting sureties like Gulu City Women MP Betty Aol Ochan, former Buikwe MP also Deputy Party Leader of PFF Dr. Michela Lulume Bayiga and Mukono Municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke and pleas that the accused needs special medical attention, the Magistrate remanded Lukwago to Luzira prisons Murchison bay until Monday 22nd June when court will sit for mention of his case and bail hearing.
