In the news this morning, the minister of Education Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo has banned all school organized tours with immediate following accidents involving students heading for tours in just one week which has resulted in deaths and fatalities. According to the directive, all school trips are banned pending investigations.
The ban comes just hours after a bus belonging to Liberty Tours and Travel overturned last evening while returning pupils of King David Primary School Ndejje in Kapchorwa killing 21 including the director of the school and leaving many injured.
This was the third accident in just one week, a bus on Thursday last week carrying students of Mwebaze high school collided with a train in Mukono along the Mukono-Katosi road killing two people including a student and a matron while a bus belonging to Amuria High School carrying students of St. Paul S.S Katakwi crushed into a stationary trailer along the Tirinyi highway killing the driver and injuring 15 students.
The Ministry of Works and Transport is also expected to issue a statement today afternoon regarding the same.
