Police has this morning arrested another National Unity Platform (NUP) Deputy President just days after the highly contested 2026 General Elections where Museveni was declared winner with over 7m votes.

The party Deputy President arrested today is Butambala county legislator Muhammed Muwanga Kivumbi whom police say he has cases to answer in regards to violence in the recently concluded Presidential and parliamentary elections in Butambala and will present him to court soon.

On the eve of Elections, Muwanga Kivumbi accuses Security of raiding his home and killing seven of his agents leaving others with injuries. While police allege that the individuals killed were storming a tally centre armed with pangas and other weapons.

Muwanga Kivumbi is NUP’s third Deputy President to be arrested. Jacklyn Jolly Tukamushaba Deputy president for Western Uganda and Dr. Lina Zedriga were all arrested on the eve of Elections from their respective homes and their whereabouts remain unknown one week later.

Now the only Deputy President who is not yet in Police custody is the one for Eastern Uganda John Baptist Nambeshe who is also not sure if he’s the next in line to be nabbed since even the party president also former presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine is also in hiding since Friday last week.
