ANOTHER HUMILIATION: Anita Among Declared Winner As Kadaga Is Left Bruised

In a fierce contest at Kololo Independence grounds, money bags Speaker Anita Among has trounced Minister also former speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga for the post of 2nd National Vice Chairperson Female of the NRM party.

At the height of the party’s National Delegates conference almost all incumbents have been swept with Alitwala Kadaga, Godfrey Kiwanda, Mike Mukula, Lydia Wanyoto, all losing grip to the revered Central Executive Committee of the NRM party. Kiwanda and Mukula all withdrew to avoid humiliation and supported their opponents.

President Museveni as Chairperson of the party went unopposed, he would later save Alhajji Moses Kigongo from the contest as he has also sailed through unopposed for 1st National Vice Chairperson.

Despite her reminders to Museveni that basing on her work record, her integrity and loyalty to the party that she also needed to be saved from a heated contest to avoid being humiliated, Kadaga has lost miserably to the his nemesis.

In the results announced by the party’s Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi, Kadaga polled 902 votes (7.2%) while Anita Annete Among polled 11680 votes (92.8%). Prior to the polls, Kadaga decried high voter bribery where she asserted that delegates were given cash in millions, mobile phones and tabs to influence their decisions.

Kadaga warned that if the habit is not curbed, the party is headed for the worst their only those with cash will make their way to leadership even when they don’t qualify for such positions.

In 2020, Kadaga faced stiff competition on the same position from Minister Persis Namuganza who has since mended ties with the former speaker. She has even been one of her campaign managers. In the previous election, Kadaga polled 6776 votes while Namuganza got 3943 votes.
