In the news this evening, the Human Rights Commission has issued a release order and sent to the president’s son Muhoozi Keinerugaba who is the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) to immediately set free Bobi Wine’s Bodyguard Eddy Mutwe who was abducted last Sunday by armed men driving in a drone.
The release order follows a string of mocking tweets which the very powerful CDF made on his X account revealing he’s holding Eddy Mutwe in his basement and the soldiers are teaching him Runyankole.
Muhoozi went ahead and released Eddy Mutwe appearing tortured, half naked with his signature beard chopped off and never revealed the reasons why he’s holding him in his basement.
According to the release order, the CDF should immediately release Eddy Mutwe to go home and failure to do so will be consequential.
“Whereas Edward Rogers Ssebuufu also known as Eddie Mutwe has been in your custody since 26th April, 2025 and whereas the Commission is satisfied that he is being unlawfully detained or restricted, this is to direct you to cause the immediate release of Edward Rogers Ssebuufu from your custody failure of which, you may be liable for contempt under Article 53(1) (d) of the Constitution”- reads the release order in part.

The release order comes when security organs including the notorious JAT operatives cordoned off the offices of National Unity Platform for the second time this week without sound and clear reasons. NUP leaders have called this witch hunt since other parties are doing their businesses normally without security interference.
