After the successful transfer of Besigye’s case file from the General Court Martial who trial of civilians was halted by the 31st January 2025 Supreme Court ruling, Besigye and his two co-accused have been fleshly charged at the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court. Following a revelation by the Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuzi yesterday that Besigye’s file had been successfully transferred by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), a production warrant was issued yesterday evening. Led by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Lawyer Medard Lubega Ssegona among others, Besigye’s legal team had applied for a harbias corpus in the high court.
