Former Ethics and Integrity Minister Miria Rukoza Koburunga Matembe who has been missing since Wednesday last week when security operatives raided her home in Luzira has been arraigned in court today and charged with promoting sectarianism in connection to remarks she allegedly made on Television.

According to Police Form 53 under reference CRB 638/2026 dated 30th June 2026, Jinja Road police station has charged Matembe of promoting sectarianism contrary to Section 38 1) (d) of the Penal Code Act and the charge sheet has been sanctioned by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It began with Muhoozi throwing some threats and insults on Matembe, followed by a raid on her home and her disappearance for almost 5 days until Muhoozi in a tweet on Monday revealed that he’s holding the 73-year-old former Minister.

She appeared in court when she couldn’t even walk but supported while visibly shaking just like the other torture victims who are delivered from Muhoozi’s torture basement where he sarcastically reveals that he teaches his victims lessons in there.

The Grade one Magistrate in Luzira just like the other judges who are presented with suspects from the Muhoozi basement despite the frail condition of Matembe, remanded her to prison.

Police which earlier denied holding Matembe now allege that in June 2026, while appearing on DK TV Uganda in Nakawa Division, Kampala District, Matembe who is a former MP for Mbarara District stated that “all our taxes are being spent on the Banyankole women ministers”, comments investigators say are likely to promote hostility, hatred or ill will against members of the Banyankole ethnic group.

Matembe had days before her abduction blasted the Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Keinerugaba over his high handedness and the mistreatment of Lukwago whom SFC commandos removed from his bedroom and took him to the basement where he underwent series of torture including forced exercise, being undressed and his nakedness recorded on cameras and being forced to wear an NRM t-shirt according to his Lawyer.

‎Matembe is widely known in Uganda’s political history as a former Member of Parliament for Mbarara District and former Minister of Ethics and Integrity. She has also remained an outspoken advocate on governance, accountability and women’s rights since exiting elective politics in 2006.
