There are clear indications that president Museveni is finally sick and done with Kyotera county MP Haruna Kasolo who in the last cabinet reshuffle was clearly demoted from the loaded docket of microfinance support center to the one of regional cooperation, where there is simply not that much money for him to swim in and play around with.

Knowledgeable sources say that Museveni, having received a dirty intelligence dossier earlier this year, long concluded that Kasolo has no political future in the politics of Buganda and more specifically greater Masaka.

The president is determined to empower new kid on the block Justin Namere, the vibe-filled fighter who managed to defeat NUP in their Masaka city stronghold and became area woman MP. Sources say that Museveni realized that the well-polished Namere is very popular with the young people of greater Masaka, which is why she had so much support in an area which is a NUP stronghold.

Museveni has been getting a lot of political mobilization ideas from Namere who personally hates Kasolo. She was the first one to realize that Kasolo was a fake very unpolished man and immediately started fighting him in favor of the late Moses Kalangwa for the position of NRM chairman in Buganda.

Even at Kyankwanzi, Namere kept telling the president how Kasolo can’t manage to be the NRM big man in greater Masaka because of his character, poor analytical skills and inability to comprehend and articulate issues well. Namere clashed with Kasolo many times at Kyankwanzi and even in greater Masaka, that clashing of the two happened many times.

Many NRMs say that greater Masaka would have benefited a lot more from the government programs if Namere was the one holding the position of NRM CEC chairman for Buganda, unlike Kasolo, an average business administration graduate from professor Kateregga’s Kampala University, who is self-centered and incapable of expressing himself in the queen’s language.

Kasolo is also seen as a disloyal intriguer who can’t build and maintain team work among party cadres. Many say he has a character problem and is naturally a very paranoid person. Namere is now seen as the cadre with the vibe which can promote and keep the NRM on top of things in greater Masaka.

Sources say that, having got a lot of intelligence from Namere about Haruna Kasolo’s riches, scandals and unsuitability, Museveni had wanted to totally drop him from his cabinet but changed his mind and demoted him to serve as regional cooperation minister after fellow big men in NRM pleaded with him.

Museveni was told it would look bad to drop Kasolo when he is an elected MP and CEC member from Buganda. That such demotion would dent the party in Buganda where he is party chairman. Sources say that because of the CEC seat and the Buganda factor, Museveni decided to demote instead of totally dropping Kasolo.

The regional cooperation ministry which he gave Kasolo requires a good speaker of the English language, to speak with foreign leaders, which Kasolo is not. It also requires decorum, team building, strategic patience and sophistication which Kasolo lacks and isn’t capable of adapting to.

If Museveni was happy with Kasolo and didn’t have Namere as a more marketable option, he ordinarily should have promoted Haruna Kasolo to full senior cabinet minister because he has been an MP since 2011 and he is also a big person in CEC, heading a whole region.

Keeping him as state minister and sending him to a poorly resourced and poorly funded ministry is the clearest indication that Museveni wanted to punish Kasolo, not elevate him.

At the microfinance ministry, staff didn’t like Kasolo which is why only celebrations greeted his departure from the finance ministry. In the larger finance ministry, Kasolo was hated very much because he one time wanted to fight with one of the undersecretaries there.

He was not a team player and was seen as paranoid and not being able to work well with fellow ministers. Sources say that because of his rural and poor education background, Kasolo has the inferiority complex and he is always paranoid, thinking that everyone is against him.

At finance he was a victim of his own intrigue and was a loner, with no friends. He was always disregarded by fellow ministers and civil servants.

Because he had been at home for months following the dissolution of Mzee’s old cabinet, the 47-year-old stinking rich father of 35 children produced from 13 women badly, badly wanted to report for work at the regional cooperation ministry.

He didn’t even allow the ministry top management to prepare and get ready to receive him. He just came by himself and asked to be given the official car and the office to be working from.

Haruna Kasolo, who also selfishly used and dumped old friends like Mukasa Mbidde, couldn’t wait for his predecessor John Mulimba to get ready and hand over office to him. He drove straight from his Bujuko home along Mityana road and stormed the ministry headquarters demanding to be allowed to begin work.

To people who will be working with him at the new ministry, this showed a very unsophisticated minister who is desperate to sit in a government office.

He couldn’t even be sensitive of the fact that his two other colleague ministers Calvin Echodu and their overall boss Adonia Ayebare, are still having their Ugandan citizenship status verified.

Instead of mourning his departure, staff at the microfinance center were happy to have Kasolo go because he had been a very demanding minister, including requiring staff at the finance department of MSC to facilitate and enable his convoy including enumerating his bodyguards and fueling his fleet every now and then.

Board members at MSC even took themselves out for dinner just to celebrate the departure of a minister who had been very complicated.

President Museveni is aware of all this and months earlier, he had told one of Kasolo’s godfathers in government that “that man is not good & I’m actually beginning to hate him.”

Museveni, just like general Salim Saleh, had been getting a lot of intelligence on Haruna Kasolo’s strange riches including owning many large tracts of land and mansions for his Harem of babes.

Museveni became angry when many NRM cadres and MP flag bearers in Buganda kept grumbling how they never got any campaign facilitation for 2021 yet 20bn was released for them through the office of their regional chairman.

Museveni got angry and had to get for them some other money, a thing which reduced his faith and belief in Haruna Kasolo, a very rich man who continues to be on a land-acquisition spree back home in Kyotera, where the NUP propagandists are already using his land-related scandals to destroy the Movement and make the ordinary people hate the ruling party even more. Museveni wonders why Kasolo needs all the wealth he has accumulated in such a short time.

Sources add that Museveni is convinced that the land accumulation spree Kasolo has been on has increased his unpopularity, which is going to negatively affect political mobilization in greater Masaka.

This is why he is investing all his efforts in empowering the more authentic and more eloquent and more popular Justine Namere in order to fill the political vacuum. Museveni sees Namere as an eloquent young lawyer with a lot vibe and support of the young people both of which are key in galvanizing support for the Movement in greater Masaka.

This explains why Haruna Kasolo has been dumped in the regional affairs docket so that his political visibility in greater Masaka can be reduced so that Justine Namere, the peoples darling, can fill the resultant vacuum.

He won’t be able to make money and even do wonders in the regional cooperation docket because he isn’t a quick learner and doesn’t have the skills required to make a good minister for that docket.

By deploying him there, Museveni just wanted to divert, isolate and politically weaken Haruna Kasolo before finally getting rid of him in favor of the surging star, Justin Namere of whom many young people of greater Masaka are very proud.
