News reaching our desk indicate that parliament’s oldest MP Gen. Moses Ali has died at 87 years from Nakasero Hospital after days under Intensive care. The Veteran politician has served different governments for over 5 decades.

He was earlier admitted at Mulago Heart Institute before being moved to Nakasero Hospital where he has died from this evening at 4:25pm.

He’s been the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West for over 25 years and despite being visibly frail, he contested in the January 15th Elections and won by a large margin. Owing to his ill health, President Museveni this time round didn’t appoint him to the usual docket he has been appointing him of being the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament.

Museveni instead appointed Gen. Moses Ali’s Son Siraj Ali as state Minister for Transport to serve in his cabinet instead of his father.

Born on 5th April 1939, the veteran politician served as Minister in President Idi Amin’s Regime serving as Minister of Provincial Administration (Interior) in 1973 and later appointed minister of finance in 1975.

He first served as minister of Youth, Culture and sports on 27th July 1987 under the Museveni regime, Minister of Tourism and later 3rd Deputy Prime Minister in 1996 and more other positions until two months ago.
