Police in Arua District are investigating an incident of a serious accident involving a Nile Star Bus that occurred on 02nd November 2026 at 8:45 pm in Enzeva village, Arua District, along the Arua-Nebbi road.

The accident involved a bus with Registration number UBF 621T, an Isuzu belonging to Nile Star Bus Company, and left several passengers injured; victims were rushed to hospitals in Arua District and City for treatment and first aid.

According to Police preliminary findings, the Isuzu Bus was traveling from Arua City loaded with passengers heading to Kampala. It is reported that the driver of the bus attempted to overtake a trailer at a narrow part of the road at Enzeva village along the Arua-Nebbi road.

The bus driver lost control of the bus, causing it to go off the road and overturn, injuring passengers on board.

Josephine Angucia, the Police Spokesperson for West Nile, confirmed the accident and said Police quickly responded to the scene, rushing victims to various hospitals like Kuluva, Arua Regional Referral Hospital and others for first aid and treatment.

“The motor vehicle is still at the scene, being guarded by a team of police officers and arrangements to tow the motor vehicle to the police station are underway,” Angucia said.

Police attribute the accident to unlawful overtaking by the Bus driver.

“The driver, whose details are yet to be established, at first ran away from the scene, later reported to Arua City Central Business Division, where he was arrested and detained. Inquiries continue under Arua District TAR 54/2026,” Angucia added.
