SICK NATION: Ministry Of Health Confirms Another Major Outbreak After Ebola And Mpox In Uganda

News getting to our Desk indicate that the Ministry of health has confirmed a Cholera outbreak three weeks after declaring Ebola outbreak in Uganda. The Cholera outbreak has been confirmed at Panyadoli Refugee Settlement in Kiryandongo district.

The confirmation was made last evening during a stake holder’s meeting held at the Kiryandongo district headquarters where officials revealed that Cholera samples taken to the Uganda Virus Research Institute came out positive. The killer disease has since claimed three lives.

The outbreak of Cholera and Ebola comes at the height of another outbreak of Monkey Pox (Mpox) that has been ravaging the country since July last year having been declared on 31st July 2024.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2021, Uganda has faced several outbreaks of Ebola in Mubende in 2023, Polio outbreak in 2021. The outbreaks come amidst financial aid cuts by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that have affected the provision of HIV/AIDS support services to over 1.2m Uganda living with HIV.
