The 26th Kinyara Open Golf Tournament kicks off today at Kinyara Golf Club, drawing a mix of professional and amateur golf players eager to compete for top honors. The highly anticipated tournament, supported by Liaison Group Uganda, is set to showcase some of the best golfing talents in the country.
Top players from the Kinyara Golf Club, including Joseph Kasozi, Andrew Oketi, and Christopher Basaliza, have expressed their excitement and determination to make their mark in the tournament. Speaking ahead of the tournament, Kasozi shared his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s always a great honor to compete against the best, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.” Oketi added, “This tournament is an excellent opportunity to test our skills and improve our game.” Basaliza, similarly confident, said, “We’ve prepared well, and we are ready to give it our best shot.”
The tournament, renowned for its competitive spirit and high level of play, promises to deliver thrilling action across its two-day schedule. Among the golfers expected to excel are Bagalana Ashraf, Ayume George, Okanya Phillip, Emma Dricile, and Kasango Grace, who have all shown impressive form in recent competitions.
The absence of last year’s champion, Joseph Cwinyai, who decided to sit out this year’s edition, has opened the field for a new winner, increasing the excitement for both players and fans alike. “With Cwinyai out, the competition is even more open, and it’s anyone’s game,” said Kasozi.
Liaison Group Uganda, one of the main sponsors of the tournament, expressed their pleasure in supporting the event for another year. “We are thrilled to partner with Kinyara Sugar Limited and the golfing fraternity,” said Sarah Siryowe, the Team Lead at Liaison Group. “The Kinyara Open is always an exciting event full of talent and sportsmanship, and we are proud to be part of it.”
As the first round of play unfolds, all eyes will be on the golfers as they begin their campaign on the course, with tee-offs starting as early as 7:20 AM. With a mix of seasoned professionals and rising amateurs, the tournament is expected to provide a fantastic display of golfing talent, making it one of the most exciting editions yet.
The stage is set for an unforgettable tournament, and by the end of the weekend, a new Kinyara Open champion will be crowned.
