The government of Uganda is thrown into excitement and happiness after new statistics revealed that Ugandan women are nolonger fertile like before and will have fewer children moving forward.
According to the State Minister for Planning Amos Lugolobi, the fertility rate has drastically reduced to 5.2 per woman in the financial year 2022-2023 from 6.2 children per woman in the previous financial year.
Amos Lugolobi further contends that the drop in the fertility rate of women also reduces the danger to Uganda’s economy to avoid costs on health, education and other social services which government spends on children and Ugandans.
This argument by the minister has elicited mixed reactions with some schooling the minister on the dangers of population collapse. Especially with countries like Japan facing a population collapse currently and is advising women to give birth to as many children as they can.
Owing to this population collapse, Japan even introduced a policy which gives working women 10 days paid leave to allow them seek fertility treatment and have enough time to engage in coitus interruptus sessions (serious sex) to save the country’s collapsing population.
Gov’t is celebrating the drop in fertility rates amongst women in Uganda, saying that women are now having less children and this will reduce the danger to Uganda’s economy.
