Commissioners of Parliament who were in the news in 2023 and the better part of 2024 for awarding themselves a whooping Shs1.7bn with former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga taking the lion’s share with Shs500m and the other three commissioner Esther Afoyochan, Prossy Akampurira and Solomon Silwany taking Shs400m each.
The service award caused Mpuuga issues and contributed to his unceremonious fall out with his party of National Unity Platform which even recalled his appointment to the parliament commission. He was later dropped as party deputy president in charge of Buganda.
A censure motion championed by Rwemiyaga County legislator Theodre Ssekikubo failed to meet the required number of signatures and court would later exonerate the four commissioners confirming the money they shared was passed in the budget and the service award was legal.
News coming in indicate that the same commissioners including Mathias Mpuuga again awarded themselves Shs400m each to help them sail through this campaigning season without any difficulties.
This has been revealed by Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi who says each of the four Commissioners received this money and the money was channeled through the parliamentary SACCO to avoid any paper trail.

Chris Obore the Director of Communication at parliament has refuted the claims by Ssenyonyi that another cash bonanza for the parliamentary commissioners really took place. He tasked Ssenyonyi to prove his allegations with evidence.
