Speaker Anita Among has dealt the last huge blow to her namesis Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga in a heated contest for National Vice Chairperson Female of NRM in the party’s Centeal Executive Committee.
Despite Kadaga’s outcries to Museveni to save her from the very powerful and very rich Speaker, the head of state paid a deaf ear. The proved a bit difficult and he sent it to the delegates to make a final decision.
Given her Anita Among’s financial muscle and the extent at which politics is commercialized, it would have been a miracle for Kadaga to win the race.
According to provisional results, Among has polled many in regions like Buganda, Teso, Bugisu among other regions with 100s of votes as Kadaga trailed with Zero votes in some votes. This awaits official results to be announced by Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Chairperson.
In Western alone Anita Among polled over 1500 votes as Kadaga trailed with 65 votes.
Despite serving her NRM party diligently, losing this very important position is the last nail the NRM has hit at Kadaga with such a huge humiliation.
Kadaga in her speech to the delegates outlined the reasons why she should be retained in CEC. She however decried the voter bribery and revealed that she knows how a big number of delegates were bribed with Shs300,000, with tabs and other stuff to vote in favor of a certain candidate.
