Arsenal have had three very good seasons in the premier league finishing in the 2nd position thrice losing the trophy to Manchester City twice and Liverpool in the just concluded 2024/25 campaign. The gunners also reached the Champions League Semi-finals in 16 years after beating Real Madrid H/A but the chance slipped out of their hands when French giants PSG rioted goals at Emirates and in France.
Despite starting on a high note, the gunners have been flipping down in the 2nd half of the season losing very important games and this has always been attributed to the lack of a prolific striker and injury prone players.
Unlike the previous transfer windows under sporting director Edu Gasper, the Gunners are this time round very serious in the transfer market under new sporting director Andrew Bata and have so far signed three players as of 10th July 2025 having let go of over 17 players including big name players like Thomas Partey, Kieran Tierney, Jorginho among others.
Arsenal have today announced the arrival of their third signing, the gunners have shopped 31-year old Christian Norgaard from Brentford. He joins Spanish Internationals Martin Zubimendi who joined four days ago from Real Sociedad and goal keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea who signed two weeks ago.
Speaking immediately after Norgaard signed, Mikel Arteta welcomed the player and heaped huge praise on his skills on the peach, the experience and leadership he brings at the club.
“We’re delighted to welcome Christian to Arsenal. He is an international player with a wealth of experience of the Premier League. He has proven leadership skills and a strong character which will be invaluable to our squad.
“He is a strong midfielder with excellent tactical awareness and versatility. He also has physical presence and intelligence which will give us added depth and balance. Christian will a lot to the group both on and off the pitch, and we’re excited to start working with him in this next chapter of his career. We welcome Christian and his family to Arsenal”
Sporting Director, Andrew Berta, said “We’re very pleased to welcome Christian Norgaard to the club. He has been a consistent high performer in the Premier League and brings many qualities to our club. He is a leader, and a player with high tactical intelligence and versatility who will have a very positive impact to the squad. We welcome Christian to Arsenal” Bata said
Christian will wear the number 16 shirt and will immediately join up with his new teammates for pre-season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is still pushing for Sweedish International Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP and the deal would materialize in the coming weeks if negotiations persist with the player accepting but talks now at club to club level according to Italian Transfer news pundit Fabrizio Romano.
