While interviewing state house big lady general Prossy Nalweyiso, youtuber Dean Saava lied to her that he was being persecuted by high court judges and online media regulators like UCC because of his determination to fight corruption.
UCC boss Nyombi Tembo recently wrote a letter directing all telecom companies to block access to some of Saava’s online news platforms because he had become a merchant of fake news, hate speech, defamation and disinformation.
Tembo also made it clear that Saava wasn’t a licensed journalist which shows that he wasn’t authorised to operate any media business in Uganda.
Saava had also been accused of extortion prompting him to claim that 20m had been offered to him to kill a story of two MPs from Hoima and Kibale after he caught them having sex in a lodge when their fellow MPs were at parliament doing the business of the Ugandan people.
Saava also claimed that he had been offered 25m to stop airing negative stories about prof Badru Kateregga’s Kampala university and his family feuds. He said there is no way he would have refused all that money if he was ekiwani extortionist journalist.
Tembo indicated that Saava, who also faces sanctioning by youtube for hate speech, was being investigated for disinformation, defamation and hate speech besides facing arrest for operating illegal media business without being licensed to do so.
Two journalists Mubiru Dick and Karim Sengooba spent 6 months in Luzira for the offense of operating grape vine online news without a license.
In the end, their grapevine news site was permanently switched off after UCC ordered telecom companies to pull it down, which made it permanently go off. So, Saava shouldn’t take it lightly when UCC talks about punishing him for operating the online media business without a license.
In his case, rich man Saava also faces many defamation court cases in the high court in Kampala. He is being investigated by judges of the high court including Dr. Douglas Singiza.
Recently, a gag order had to be issued to stop Saava from using his youtube channel to promote hate speech and incite violence against lawyers who had been instructed by some of his victims to file defamation cases against him.
Some of the people who have been filing defamation cases against Saava include Prisons boss Emiku, LoP Ssenyonyi, Prof Badru Kateregga, Kampala university and Hon Emily Kugonza just to mention a few. They have also separately been filing complaints against Saava.
During the interview, Saava cried out to general Nalweyiso to use her position and help him because the pressure on him via the ongoing UCC and high court investigations is becoming too much for him to bear.
The problem is that Saava lied to Nalweyiso that he was being investigated for fighting corruption, which is totally untrue. He wants her to find a way of using her position to intervene and order judges to leave him alone.
It’s something that will be hard for general Nalweyiso to do because even her boss Museveni doesn’t like anyone to interfere with the work of court and that of other agencies of government.
