The General Court Martial sitting in Makindye has adjourned the hearing of Dr Besigye and his co Accuse Hajji Obeid Lutale to 10th December 2024 giving enough time to the Law Council to issue a temporal practicing License to Besigye’s lead Lawyer Martha Karua who showed up in court with out it.
However in such circumstances, the court couldn’t proceed with the case with her as the Lead Counsel without a license since it’s a pre-requisite for every lawyer to posses and furnish court with the certificate from the Uganda Law Council.
Erias Lukwago who is Besigye’s Ugandan Lawyer pleaded with the army court to instead adjourn the matter to tomorrow since the Law Council had agreed to issue Karua witha temporary practicing certificate but court said the only available date would be Tuesda next week.
Besigye and Lutale were mysteriously abducted from a Kenyan Hotel by the Ugandan Army and were later presented before the court martial were they are charged with illegal possession of fire arms in Nairobi.

According to prosecution, the two and others at large committed the said crimes from Nairobi Kenya, Geneva Switzerland and Athens in Greece where they allegedly held meetings soliciting military support to bring and end to Museveni’s 40 year rule.
The duo denied the charges where Dr. Besigye even questioned why he was being charged in a military court when he’s a civilian. These were remanded to Luzira prisons as UPDF continued with investigations and will now return to court next week on Tuesday.
However there was drama when one of the lawyers on Besigye’s legal team Eron Kiiza bitterly exchanged with the UPDF prosecutors who were against Besigye making a change in his legal team to enable the case to proceed.
