After just a few tours in Kamuli, Abim, Soroti and Buikwe, police have again halted Bobi Wine’s countrywide tours after blocking today’s Nakasongola tour where NUP was set to take their revolutionary caravan.
Bobi Wine and NUP took to social media and lashed at Uganda Police and the army for halting their Nakasongola tour. According to Bobi Wine, he says police can’t reveal the exact reason but the exact reason is that Museveni is scared of the numbers.
The police and military have this morning deployed heavily and blocked our mobilisation activities in Nakasongola District, claiming that we did not follow guidelines yesterday. They have also deployed the military everywhere on the road towards Nakasongola. We know the real… pic.twitter.com/5vJVo4Y6rW

This comes at time when NUP is being trolled on social media for pulling huge crowds in the Kisoro by-election for the party’s flag bearer Zubedi Sultana Salim but only managed to get 903 votes. Netizens have advised Bobi Wine to consider changing the tactic since the crowds have not yielded anything but engage with the real voters.
In a letter by police’s Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma to the Secretary General of NUP, police have halted Bobi Wine’s tours indefinitely because the party has continuously breached the guidelines given to them whenever they’re allowed to go meet their supporters.
“As mandated by the law therefore, to preserve public order, UPF halts the NUP countrywide mobilization tours until such a time when the rule of law can be respected. This has come as a result of the failure and/ or neglect by NUP to adhere to the mutually agreed upon guidelines, traffic regulations and public order.”-Kituuma says
