President Museveni in exercise of the powers given to him under Articles 108 (1) and (2), 108A (1), 113 (1), and 114(1) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, he has appointed several people for positions as Vice President, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and Senior President Advisors.

To the Shock of many, the president has dropped very many big name politicians from his cabinet, some made a comeback and he also appointed several new faces to breath new life in his cabinet of over of 80 politicians for the term 2026-2030.

  1. Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa dropped from Ministry of Energy and mineral Development replaced by Dr. Monica Musenero.
  2. Hon. Francis Mwebesa dropped from Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives replaced by businessman Sanjay Tana.
  3. Hon. Betty Amongi Akena dropped from Ministry of Labour, Gender and Social Development and replaced by Gen. Henry Tumukunde Kakurugu.
  4. Gen. Moses Ali dropped as 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government in parliament and replace by Dr. Crispus Walter Kiyonga. However, Museveni appointed Gen Moses Ali’s son Siraje Musa Ali as Minister of State for Works.
  5. Gen Jeje Odongo has been dropped from the Foreign Affairs Ministry and replaced by Veteran Ambassador Adonia Ayebare who has been Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
  6. Hon. Matia Kasaija has been dropped from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Replaced by Henry Musasizi.
  7. Hon. Raphael Magyezi has been dropped from the Local Government ministry and replaced by Hon. Balaam Barugahara who has been the Minister of State in charge of Children and Youth Affairs.
  8. Hon. Wilson Muruli Mukasa has been dropped from the Ministry of Public Service and replaced by Gen. Katumba Wamala who has been the Minister of Works and Transport.
  9. Hon. Sam Mangusho Cheptoris has been dropped from the Water and Environment and replaced by Gen. Kahinda Otafiire who has been the minister of Internal Affairs.
  10. Hon. Peter Lokeris has been dropped from the Minister for Karamoja affairs in the office of the Prime Minister and Replaced by Hon. Lokii John Baptist.
  11. Hon. Denis Hamson Obua has been dropped as the Government Chief Whip and replaced by Hon. Justine Lumumba Kasule who has been moved from the Office of the Prime Minister.

The President has also dropped several big name politicians who have been serving as Ministers of State.

  1. Hon. Okello Oryem (Foreign affairs) has been dropped and replaced by Money bgafs Hon. Calvin Echodu.
  2. Gen. David Muhoozi (Internal Affairs) has been replaced by Dr. Lawrence Muganga of Victoria University
  3. Hon. Florence Nambooze who replace incercerated Agnes Nanduutu (Karamoja Affairs) has been replaced by Hon. Anyakun Esther Davinia.
  4. Hon. Fred Bwino Kyakulaga MAAIF (Agriculture) has been replaced by Hon. Desire Muhooza
  5. Hon Evelyn Anite FINANCE (Investment and Privatization) has been replaced by Ms. Amina Mukalazi.
  6. Hon. Francis Musa Ecweru WORKS MINISTRY (Works) has been replaced by Mr. Siraji Musa Ali (Gen Moses Ali’s Son)
  7. Hon. Fredrick Ngobi Gume TRADE MINISTRY (Cooperatives) Replaced by Hon. Tom Aza.
  8. Hon. Godfrey Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga ICT MINISTRY (Guidance) replaced by Hon. Alioni yorke Odria.
  9. Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu MINISTRY OF EDUATION (Primary Education) replaced by Hon. Phyllis Chemutai.
  10. Hon. Kenneth Omona OFFICE OF THE PRIME MINISTER (Northern Uganda) replaced by Hon. Beatrice Akello.

Another highlight of this cabinet is that the president hasn’t appointed former Speaker of Parliament to any ministry as consolation having booted her from the speakership where she had a lot of powers and instead sanctioned a probe into her wealth. Even the new recruit Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi hasn’t been appointed to any position despite the hype surrounding his switch from FDC to NRM.

Museveni also appointed some of the politicians he dropped from his cabinet as Senior presidential advisors. These include Evelyn Anita, Ruth Nankabirwa, Francis Mwebesa and Hamson Obua while Dr. Kenneth Omona has been transferred to the Diplomatic Service as Ambassador at a station to be communicated later.
