For the first time in over 30 years, Christians and Muslims will have commenced fasting on the same day a rare occurrence of Ramadan and Lent coinciding on the same day 18th February 2026. The crescent of the moon was sighted yesterday 17th which meant that the Holly Month of Ramadan will commence today. Muslims normally fast for 28-30 days depending on when the next crescent of the moon is sighted. President Museveni has officially communicated the firing of Jenifer Bamuturaki as CEO of the Uganda Airlines whom he in 2022 protected with all his energy from scrutiny as Joel Ssenyonyi’s COSASE questioned her abilities and competence to run the national carrier. Public participation on the proposed divestiture of the government’s stake in Safaricom Plc is drawing strong interest from citizens who say the move could offer relief from rising taxes and the cost of living, provided the process is transparent and the proceeds are well protected. The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has revealed that it is set and will be releasing the results of 2025 Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) results ahead of the commencement of term one.
