Tororo, Uganda: Ninety-seven young people have completed an intensive six-month training programme at Busitema University in Tororo district, intended to provide them with marketable skills. Fully funded by Stanbic Bank, the UGX 50 million programme aligns with the government’s National Development Plan to invest in skills development to empower young people and drive economic growth. As a cloud filled with smoke hovers above the Aden Ade International Airport in Somali capital Mogadishu. Details coming in indicate that 5 UPDF officers have perished in the helicopter crash which involved a Ugandan military chopper. The helicopter was part of the African Union Transition Mission In Somalia went down shortly after attempting to land at the Aden Adde Airport while enroute from the Baledogle military airbase. A group of voters in Bulambuli District have filed a petition with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, seeking the nullification of Alex Burundo’s nomination as the party’s candidate for Member of Parliament. In the news this evening, the battle of the NRM ticket for Lwemiyaga Constituency in Sembabule district between Long time Member of Parliament Theodre Ssekikubo and Rt Brig General Emma Rwashande took a dark turn leading to the death of a young man during campaigns.
