For the last 5 days now, the internet has been a wash with a woman slapping and assaulting a traffic police officer after she was accused of reckless driving and speaking on phone while driving last Friday
In the video that went viral, the police officer observed restraint as the angry woman rained slaps and abuses on him. The woman has since been identified as Mercy Timbitwire who is an employee at the NRM secretariat in the communication department.
She was arraigned before court yesterday and remanded to Luzira prisons until 4th November 2024 by the Magistrates court of Nakawa. Timbitwire lost her cool, slapped the police officer and confiscated his phones and a police machine that issues express penalty receipts.
Taking to her social media media pages, Speaker Anita Among applauded two police officer; a one Tusiime Abdallah who has also gone viral in a video directing cars during a heavy downpour. The speaker also applauded another police officer Makawa Charles who observed restraint when he was slapped heavily by the angry Timbitwire from the NRM secretariat.

The Speaker also apologized on behalf of all women, sighting that no all of them behave like the way Timbitwire and her colleague behaved while assaulting the police officer calling it an embarrasment to all the women of Uganda by slapping an officer on duty.
Rt Hon @AnitahAmong: That was an embarrassment to all the women in Uganda to slap someone on duty and on that note, I want to apologize on behalf of all the women and not all women do that.#PlenaryUg #NBSParliamentLive #NBSUpdates pic.twitter.com/AVHKjCVhKp
