Dear Editor, Two years ago today, on 2nd November 2024, i and my wife Milly Betty Mwesigwa said yes to a lifetime together. We didn’t know all that lay ahead, but we knew who we wanted by our side: God first, and each other right behind.
Marriage has been good—not perfect, but good. Some mornings are filled with laughter, and some evenings with quiet disagreement. At times, we’ve seen things differently and had to pause and listen. Through those moments, we’ve learned that putting God first is more than a phrase.
It means praying before reacting, trusting His way when ours feels louder, and believing He is writing a better story than we could plan for ourselves.
We’ve also learned that marriage takes two—not two plus the neighbors, the group chat, or everyone else’s opinions. The two of us can sit down, speak honestly, forgive quickly, and work through whatever comes our way. We don’t need a third party to hold our marriage together.
That doesn’t mean we walk alone. When we’ve needed wisdom, we’ve sought counsel from elders who have walked this road before us. Their advice has been a gift, and we’ve learned to set boundaries that protect our home, our peace, and our love.
To anyone reading this: marriage is good. It’s worth the patience, the prayer, and the work.
Two years down, and by God’s grace, a lifetime to go. go.
