American Televangelist and famous pastor Ben Hinn is set to be in Kampala early next year in a conference that is expected to attract over 15000 pastors from Pentecostal churches across the country. National Unity Platform supporters who last week pleaded guilty on the charges of attempting to overthrow government and being in possession of military wares including 13 bomb materials have been sentenced. The 16 have been on remand for four years and have had their several bail applications denied on issues that the sureties were not substantial. Since last Friday through the weekend, a woman who has been identified as Mercy Timbitwire has been trending after she decided to take matters in her own hands and rained slaps and abuses to a traffic police officer who had stopped who has also been identified as Charles Makawa. For the last 5 days now, the internet has been a wash with a woman slapping and assaulting a traffic police officer after she was accused of reckless driving and speaking on phone while driving last Friday In the video that went viral, the police officer observed restraint as the angry woman rained slaps and abuses on him. The woman has since been identified as Mercy Timbitwire who is an employee at the NRM secretariat in the communication department. Ugandan City lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka has dragged Kenyan government and the president of Kenya Dr Samoei William Ruto over what he termed as the “illegal’ impeachment of embattled Deputy President Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua. President Museveni has pardoned 130 prisoners who had been convicted on several cases and were serving their sentences in different prisons in Uganda. The president executed the pardon in accordance with Article 121 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and all the 130 prisoners who were serving their sentences on minor offences have since been released. According to Frank Baine, the Prisons Spokesperson, these were pardoned and released on public health and humanitarian grounds. The 2024 Census report has a chapter on characteristics of Uganda’s youth and adolescent population; clearly distinguishing them from other age groups of the population. Having opted to rely on Uganda’s National Youth Policy (2015) and National Youth Council Act (2015) respectively, for purposes of 2024 census, UBOS defined a youth to be a person aged 18-30 years and an adolescent to be a person aged 10-19.
