Following the transfer of his case files to the Civilian court following the supreme court ruling that halted all proceedings against civilians in the General court martial, Besigye has ended his hunger strike that was risking his life while under detention in Luzira prisons. After the successful transfer of Besigye’s case file from the General Court Martial who trial of civilians was halted by the 31st January 2025 Supreme Court ruling, Besigye and his two co-accused have been fleshly charged at the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court. Appearing before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s court, the charge sheet looked revised and Besigye was charged with treason.
