PROTEST VOTE NARRATIVE: Nambeshe No Show As Bugisu Region Endorses Bobi Wine Ahead Of 2026

As the sun was raising from the East today morning, NUP supporters in Mbale city were in high spirits to welcome their party Principal Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and his entourage who are in the City for a very important political activity.

Bobi Wine arrived in Mbale City to a hero’s welcome cheers, chants and waving crowds lining up on the different streets to have a glimpse of the man who has joined a list of opposition politicians to challenge Museveni’s 4-decade rule.

Bobi Wine was franked by his party’s General Secretary David Lewis Rubongoya and party Deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro and other leaders who met their party members from Bugisu region. These expressed their unshaken confidence in Bobi Wine and his party ahead of the 2026 General Election.

However, the party’s Deputy President in charge of Eastern Region also the opposition Chief Whip in parliament John Baptist Nambeshe was no show as party members in the region endorsed Bobi Wine’s presidential bid at the event further raising suspicions that his former party had initiated plans to convince him back to NRM ahead of the general elections.

When Bobi Wine to to the stage, he thanked the people of Bugisu for their love and trust. He emphasized the protest vote narrative which him and his colleagues confidently believe will bring an end to Museveni’s 40-year decade rule.

“The power of the people is stronger than the people i power”, Bobi wine told the crowd. We are not fighting individuals- we are fighting a system that has kept our people in poverty and silence”-said Bobi Wine.

Ahead of the 2026 general elections, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has vividly showed he will contest again to push his stay in power to 45 years. Bugisu’s political kingpin Nathan Nandala Mafabi has also revealed he will challenge Museveni on the FDC ticket while UPC’s Jimmy Akena has also started preparing to vie for presidency.
