Kampala, Uganda – MTN Uganda proudly joined the people of Buganda in celebrating the 70th birthday of His Majesty, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. As part of the birthday celebrations, MTN Uganda lined up impactful community activities on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, to honor this year’s birthday theme, “Tubeere balamu”, encouraging the public to contribute to this life-saving cause.

In collaboration with Uganda Transfusion services, MTN Uganda hosted a blood donation drive at the Old Taxi Park, urging the public to participate in this vital initiative that reinforces the spirit of community and togetherness. Blood donation is a crucial act that saves lives, and this initiative aligned with MTN Uganda’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful impact on the communities it serves.
To encourage participation in the blood donation drive, MTN MoMo offered discounted transport fares for passengers in 50 taxis for upto five (5) hours via MTN MoMo. This gesture ensured that more people could conveniently take part in the celebration while easing their travel expenses.

Additionally, MTN Uganda launched special voice bundles tailored for the central region, encouraging the public to communicate, share business opportunities, and exchange health knowledge. Customers could dial *100*21*1# to access 35 minutes at only 1,000 UGX.
Speaking about the initiative, Augustine Lule, the MTN Uganda Regional Business Manager Kampala stated, “At MTN Uganda, we believe in standing together with our people to create a lasting impact.
