In the news this afternoon, former police Chief IGP John Cossy Odomelo has died from a hospital in India where he was receiving treatment. Odomelo was the Inspector General of Police from 1992-1999.
Odomelo replaced IGP Apollo Byekwaso who served for only Three years between 1990 to 1992. He in 2003 faced corruption related scandals by the Ssebutinde Commission of Inquiry into alleged corruption in the Uganda Police.

Odomelo’s is the former police boss to died in a space of one week after the death of another former police chief IGP Okoth Ogolla who died on last week at Nakasero Hospital. Ogolla was police boss between 1981 and 1985.
