President Museveni has pardoned 130 prisoners who had been convicted on several cases and were serving their sentences in different prisons in Uganda.
The president executed the pardon in accordance with Article 121 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and all the 130 prisoners who were serving their sentences on minor offences have since been released.
According to Frank Baine, the Prisons Spokesperson, these were pardoned and released on public health and humanitarian grounds. Museveni has pardoned several prisoners in recent months including Chandi Jamwa former NSSF managing Director.
The president also last month pardoned John Muhanguzi Kashaka the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government who was serving a 10 year jail term after he was convicted for causing financial loss of Shs4.2billion in the LC1 bicycle saga.
