The University emphasizes the importance of timely tuition payment to ensure the continued provision of essential services that benefit all students, lecturers, staff, parents, guardians, and sponsors. While surcharges and late payment penalties are part of the University’s financial policy to encourage compliance with payment timelines, these are applied with fairness, empathy, and accountability.
KIU’s transparent bursary system takes into consideration the needy students spread across the country, with slots allocated fairly to all the districts. KIU has a clear student complaint handling procedure for all complaints ranging from admissions, registration, tuition and bursaries, teaching and learning, assessment, students’ marks and graduation.
Details regarding tuition payment policies, payment procedures, and related academic guidelines are clearly outlined in the KIU Student Instruction Manual and Handbook, issued to all new students during orientation sessions and reinforced through ongoing engagements throughout the academic journey.
Recognizing that financial challenges may occur, students and sponsors who experience genuine constraints are strongly encouraged to engage the Directorate of Finance, the Dean of Students, or respective College or School Administrators for guidance and possible flexible arrangements. These offices remain open and approachable, ensuring that every concern is handled with understanding and professionalism.
