In a fierce contest at Kololo Independence grounds, money bags Speaker Anita Among has trounced Minister also former speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga for the post of 2nd National Vice Chairperson Female of the NRM party. At the height of the party’s National Delegates conference almost all incumbents have been swept with Alitwala Kadaga, Godfrey Kiwanda, Mike Mukula, Lydia Wanyoto, all losing grip to the revered Central Executive Committee of the NRM party. At Kololo Independence grounds, the stakes are high as over 25000 NRM delegates gathered to elect leaders to the party’s apex body of Central Executive Committee (CEC) for the different regions. The delegates drawn from all districts, municipalities and cities in Uganda have already voted for the 2nd National Vice Chairperson Female where Anita Among as expected trounced her nemesis and former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga. In other stories this evening, Captain George Mike Mukula has in a surprise move withdrawn from the race of the Vice Chairperson Eastern region. The race had three candidates; Mukula, Calvin Echodu and Namutumba Women MP Mariam Naigaga. After withdrawing, Mukulu endorsed Calvin Echodu who also equally comes from the same sub-region of Teso like him. The battle was largely between Mukula and Echodu and this indirectly gives a resounding win to Echodu ahead of the poll for regional chairpersons. Speaker Anita Among has dealt the last huge blow to her namesis Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga in a heated contest for National Vice Chairperson Female of NRM in the party’s Centeal Executive Committee. Despite Kadaga’s outcries to Museveni to save her from the very powerful and very rich Speaker, the head of state paid a deaf ear. The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has this afternoon halted the construction works that had commenced along the Nakivubo Channel pending permission and guidance from the authority which is the custodian of city land and it’s development. Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago had protested the development along the Nakivubo Channel sighting several concerns of land grabbing. Following a story by the BBC world service which also quoted CBC news indicating that Ugandan government had accepted to host immigrants which the United States is deporting, the Ministry of internal affairs has issued a statement. As earlier reported by the BBC, Uganda has indeed accepted to take in deportees who have been unceremoniously chased away from the US by the Trump administration under several conditions with some still under discussion.
