By Paul Mugoya Big questions; Does Parliament represent the people’s interest or the President’s Interest Or is it an Enabler For Corruption? Are people losing their faith in democracy just because it no longer serves their interests? Are people losing interest in political parties just because they are seen to serve the interests of only those who own and manage them? Politics has been commercialized and has become a transactional tool for conducting illicit businesses for self-aggrandizement at the taxpayer’s expense. Ugandans view the current economy as an extortionist economy that extracts from the poor to enrich a few tops…
By Paul Mugoya Ugandans deserve some respect and appreciation for having sustained the NRM government for this long. Ugandans have worked hard and sacrificed their time to ensure their leaders lived a comfortable life, anticipating in return for good governance with a good social policy that can cater for their social needs. Unfortunately, we have been given a raw deal. Let it be known, that the offices and positions that they hold are not hereditary or customary but public offices at the expense of the taxpayers. We expect all public servants or those holding political offices/positions to conduct themselves with…
By Oweyegha-Afunaduula Perhaps there are no two words in lingual history that have been written or talked about than the words “Success” and “Failure”. Many people see them as adversaries, but really, they are co-joined twins. They never leave each other behind. Where there is failure there is success. In fact, when success occurs then next logical thing is failure and vice versa. It is impossible to be continually successful without failure. And if you follow Chinese Chairman Mao Tse Tung’s “Try Fail, Try Again and Fail Until you Succeed, then ultimately you succeed if working hard is a virtue…

The Ugandan government runs up debt like it doesn’t have to ever pay it back. Last year, it spent nearly twice the amount it collected in taxes, running over outstanding budget deficit in balances of payments alone notwithstanding civil servants’ dismal salaries and wage bills paid in arrears amidst the corruption inherent from the top echelons of authority in the ministries down to the local government administrative apparatus. Imagine if the average Ugandan household behaved like that, what is pending is stressful. The median family income in Uganda is modestly around or below Ugx35m per annum. According to Uganda Bureau…
