Former Speaker of Parliament, 1st Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for East African affairs and Kamuli women member of parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has destroyed fellow Minister Babirye Milly Babalanda in an explosive interview broadcasted across all radio stations in Busoga.
It all started when Milly Babalanda last week went after Kadaga claiming she’s fighting her and won’t just sit down to watch as her personality was being dragged for reasons she doesn’t know. Babalanda claimed that one Member of Parliament elect for Jinja North Hussein Muyonjo alias Swengere who reportedly went to radio claiming Babalanda was behind the delayed declaration of his win by the Electoral Commission.
According to Babalanda, she says it’s Kadaga who reportedly informed Swengere that Babalanda is the one delaying your declaration as MP elect for Jinja North. The Minister for presidency further faulted Kadaga for rubbing shoulders with newly elected opposition members of parliament instead of those of NRM.
In a highly anticipated press conference held yesterday evening, Kadaga decided to reply to Babalanda but ended up destroying her. For example she says Babalanda has been appointing opposition members as RDCs and leaving out dedicated NRM supporters.
Kadaga accused Babalanda of being incompetent and being unable to read and comprehend things. According to Babalanda, it’s Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Kirunda Faruke who has been running Babalanda’s Ministry of Presidency because of her incompetence including writing for her speeches which she can’t even comprehend well.
The former speaker says she’s the one who recruited Babalanda into service when she recommended her to the president for appointment as Deputy RDC even when she was a Primary Seven graduate without senior six and even senior four despite the requirements of RDCs being senior six or equivalent to that of a Member of parliament.
“Herself when she hosted the president in Buyende, she said he wouldn’t have known her if it was not for Kadaga. So i want to tell Milly Babalanda to calm down because you might not handle the wars you’re starting. The other thing, some people when they land in good life which they’re not expecting, they run mad. Even the speeches she makes, they write for her and reads word by word but she can’t even answer a question but i have never talked about this but since she has decided to attack me, let me also open up. Kirunda Faruke has been helping her with speeches and literally he’s been running the ministry”-said Kadaga
It’s from the Deputy RDC position in Busia District that Babalanda grew up through ranks in the office of the president including being the head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) with the likes of Minsa Kabanda in Kyambogo before being appointed Minister for Presidency.
Kadaga also accuses Babalanda of blackmailing other people to get favors from the president. The former speaker contents that Babalanda was appointed as Minister after blackmailing the then Minister for presidency Esther Mbayo.
The fights for superiority and supremacy in Busoga which is highly infested with poverty and ranks second after Karamoja has hampered constructive engagements between leaders. The region now has leaders aligned to Kadaga and another group aligned to speaker Anita Among. The factions have further rendered the region helpless in regards to development.

Kadaga who has been in parliament for the last 30 years currently has wars at all fronts; fighting off the Team Mulamu (aligned to Anita Among) and another war against the Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga (OBB) whom she accuses of deviating from the core foundations of the Kingdom to politics.
