Before hitting the bush in the early 80s to fight the government of the day, president Museveni who was in his early 40s was like any other Uganda but ambitious about the affairs of his country.
After capturing power in 1986, besides the 10 point program which he unveiled, he also revealed that the problem of Africa in General and Uganda in particular was not the people but leaders who want to overstay in power.
It’s 2025 and president Museveni is up and about campaigning to extend his rule to 45 years. This wouldn’t have been possible if the term limits and age limits had not been scrapped out of the Constitution. He’s battling other 7 candidates with more competition coming from the singer cum politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who’s contesting presidency for the 2nd time.
The president would later clarify on what he meant by leaders who overstay in power with statements like; “If the people are renewing my mandate in a free election, then i wouldn’t put it in that category, i was talking about dictatorship“. He also in 2021 revealed that “Some people think that being in power for a long time is a bad thing, but the more you stay, the more you learn. I am now an expert in governance”
Leaving that aside, did you know why president Museveni puts on a hat and who told him to put it on?, look no more, he has revealed severally that since he has a bald head, he’s at risk of getting cancer if the sun rays over hit his head. The president also reveals that it’s his son Muhoozi who advised him to adopt the hat from around 2010 onwards.
