In the news this evening, National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has been ambushed on his way to the 2nd rally of the day in Mbarara and majority of his campaign team arrested by police and army.
In the commotion some journalists have been injured as police and army rained chaos on Bobi Wine and his team. It’s not yet clear why police has arrested them including Olivia Lutaaya who spent four years in prison without trial and only regained her freedom after being forgiven by president Museveni.
This is the second major incident as Bobi Wine traverses western Uganda, the first one happened in Kiruhura district where goons holding Museveni’s posters armed with sticks and stones reigned chaos on Bobi Wine’s supporters vowing not to allow him campaign in their district.
We have been ambushed on our way to the next rally. The criminal regime security operatives are breaking into vehicles of my campaign team and picking up my colleagues. They have switched off the internet to hide their criminality!#FreeUgandaNow
