President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has this evening appointed a new Inspectorate of Government (IGG) after declining to renew the contract of outgoing IGG Betty Olive Namisango Kamya (BONK).
Kamya was appointed IGG in November 2021 replacing Justice Irene Mulyagonja who moved to the Constitutional Court. During her reign, Kamya has tried her level best to fight corruption but seems the big man was not impressed and it could be the reason he declined to extent her contract.
The contract of outgoing IGG Betty Kamya and for her deputies all ended on 22nd September and after days of not hearing of them being renewed, Kamya unceremoniously bowed out of office.
Now in exercise of the powers vested in him by the constitution, president Museveni has appointed Justice Aisha Naluzze as the new Inspectorate of Government. The president has also re-apponted Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and Anne Muhairwe Twinomugisha as deputy IGGs.
Their names have been forwarded to the Parliament’s Appointment Committee chaired by Speaker of parliament for vetting and approval.
