Outspoken Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda has lashed at the quality of MPs and debates in the 11th parliament which is led by Speaker Anita Among and her deputy Thomas Tayebwa.
According to Ssemuju, political parties should be scouting for quality leaders like the same way football clubs do when scouting top talent than only being reactive towards elections where whoever shows up at the nomination venue is taken as the only leader with qualities.
Ssemuju was appearing on the NBS Morning breeze alongside NRM’s Dr. Tanga Odoi. He says way back political parties used to recruit students into politics even at Universities drawing examples at the Democratic Party’s (DP) Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) which was a vibrant youth wing of DP.
“I don’t think Tanga Odoi is processing those sort of people. He will just process those who have made themselves available whether they’re able to lead or not. I am in parliament but nearly 85% of MPs should be councilors at LC3. But those are the one’s that political parties have processed”-Ssemuju says.

From a general perspective, both opposition and the ruling party all have inept leaders in parliament who can even spend years without presenting much on the floor of parliament in any discussion of National importance.
