Just like president Museveni instituted a team of Lawyers to handle petitions arising from the chaotic NRM party primaries for Members of parliament and local government, National Unity Platform too after releasing names of it’s flag bearers instituted a special committee.
The Special committee was mandated to fast track complaints arising from the flag bearer lists released by the party for local government ahead of nominations by the Electoral Commission this week.
Consequently several complaints were lodged at the Makerere-Kavule party office and the committee found out tat 11 party tickets had been handed out wrongly. 11 petitioners now have a reason to smile after the committee handed the party flag and will be it’s candidates in the general elections.
The party however reiterates that the mandate of the committee is limited to correcting errors and dealing with other technical issues, as opposed to dealing with opinion based complaints which would require a full hearing and ONLY those who appear on the updated list will be endorsed by the party ahead of nominations by electoral commission this week.
