At Kololo Independence grounds, the stakes are high as over 25000 NRM delegates gathered to elect leaders to the party’s apex body of Central Executive Committee (CEC) for the different regions.
The delegates drawn from all districts, municipalities and cities in Uganda have already voted for the 2nd National Vice Chairperson Female where Anita Among as expected trounced her nemesis and former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga. The other contentious positions is Vice Chairperson Northern, Vice Chairperson Kampala, Vice Chairperson Karamoja and Vice Chairperson Western.

President Museveni went through unopposed after all those who wanted to stand against him were arm twisted at the secretariat. Alhajji Moses Kigongo also went through unopposed after his competitor was booted during vetting. Captain Mike Mukula has in a surprise move withdrawn from the race of Vice Chairperson Eastern and Endorsed his tribemate Calvin Echodu who will now tussle it out with Namutumba Women MP Mariam Naigaga.
In another surprise turn of events at Kololo, three candidates have withdraw from the race of the Vice Chairperson Central. Godfrey Kiwanda who is the incumbent, Joseph Sewava and Hakim Kyeswa have all withdrawn from the race to rally behind Minister Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune.
The race for Vice Chairperson Central now has two candidates Minister Kasolo and Kayunga’s Moses Kalangwa who has met some hostility over the growing allegations of his land grabbing practices which have pushed the president to event sanction a probe into his conduct in matters LAND.
