In this article, we bring you the five players who are favorites to win the Premier League Golden boot ahead of the new season which will surely bring some exciting football.
- Erling Haaland- Manchester City:Â Even during a down season for The Citizens who struggled to make strides, Haaland was still among the league’s leading goal scorers. He netted 22 times for Manchester City last season. He suffered an ankle issue that sidelined him for more than a month. The Norwegian has now scored 20+ league goals in three consecutive premier league seasons, becoming the fifth player to achieve that feet. This qualifies him to to be among the golden boot favorites ahead of the new season.
- Mohammed Salah-Liverpool: The Egyptian was last seasons golden boot winner with 29 goals and 18 assists in a season where the Reds lifted the Premier league title under their new manager Ann Slot. This was Salah’s fourth golden boot since he arrived at Liverpool in 2017 from Roma. His stunning performance places him 2nd among the favorites for the golden boot this season.
- Viktor Gyokeres- Arsenal: The Gunner’s have narrowly finished 2nd for three consecutive seasons losing the battle for title to Manchester City twice and once to Liverpool last season. Their most pressing problem have been lack of a reliable striker. It seems they found a solution to that after securing Sporting CP’s goal Machine Viktor Gyokeres. The new Arsenal striker qualifies for the golden boot race because of his previous performance at Sporting where he score 97 goals in 102 appearances winning two successive Primeira titled and top scorer awards.
- Alexander Isac- Newcastle: The wantaway striker became the first Newcastle United player to score 20+ goals last season. The Swedish striker netted 23 times in the Premier league to finish as runner-up to Mohammed Salah for the Golden Boot. He has emerged as one of Europe’s top centre- forward on Tyneside but looks unlikely to hit the ground running this season. Liverpool are pushing for his signature this summer after the striker made it clear to Newcastle that he wants to leave.
- Joao Pedro-Chelsea: The blues spent around £60m to bring in Joao Pedro from Brighton this summer and the forward has had an instant impact. He market his first start with a brace in the Club World Cup semi-finals and added another in the final win over Pari Saint-Germain. His hot streak has continue in pre-season after Chelsea’s post-tournament break with the number nine role his to lose. A Golden boot win would be a significant step for a play whose best top-flight season saw goal scored but he could flourish in a Chelsea side full of confidence.
