Mpuga Sentenced To Five Years In Prison

The Anti-Corruption Division of High Court has today convicted and sentenced, the Former Chairperson Rakai District Service Commission, Mpuga David to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of UGX7.2 Million for extorting and demanding bribes from job applicants in the district.

The accused solicited for UGX 20Million from a job applicant who wanted the position of Agricultural Officer.

Mpuga entered into a plea bargain where he compensated the victim with UGX 30Million Shillings and will not be serving government of Uganda for the next 10 years.

The Unit is currently carrying out investigations into sale of jobs by various District Service Commissions around the country with the recent arrests being in Mpigi, Gomba and will be extended to other parts of the country.

Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke’s commission arrested the LC5 of Mpigi district Martin Ssejjemba, Kirumira Fredrick the Chairperson of the District Service Commission and Sarah Nakamoga the Secretary of the service commission on allegations of soliciting bribes in exchange for jobs within the district.
